Church Membership ?
Membership
Calvary Houston does not have a formal church membership. The believers in the early church gathered at local churches to continue in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers (Acts 2:42) However, there is no there is no specific biblical reference to individual church membership. We believe that the God places each person into the body as it pleases Him (1 Cor 12:18) and so we should go to the local body to which He sends us. We should not forsake our gatherings (Heb 10:25).
If you call Calvary Houston your church home, we encourage you to do the following …
- Attend Sunday and Wednesday services regularly, so you can grow in faith (Rom 10:17)
- After confessing Christ, get water baptized (Matt 28:19; John 14:15; Matt 10:32)
- Submit to and support the church leadership (Rom 13:1; Heb 13:17)
- Serve and support one another (Rom 12:3-8; 1 Cor 12:7; Gal 6:1-2)
- Give (time, talent, financial resources) with the right heart (Matt 6:1-4; Luke 6:38; 2 Cor 9:6-8)
- Attend our School of Discipleship Program (Matt 28:19-20)
- Share your faith with others (Mark 16:15)
