The book of Deuteronomy is often called “The Book of Remembrance” as Moses calls the people to remember the law. The word Deuteronomy actually means "The Second Law." It is not a new law but the repeating of the law already given in order to stir up the people to remembrance.
In 2 Peter, the apostle Peter wrote, “For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you” (2 Peter 1:12-13).
Both Moses and Peter knew the importance of reminding God's people to never forget the Lord's faithfulness and His word. Deuteronomy is about remembering the words and the commands of God that lead to the blessings of God.
