Hospital Care

HOSPITAL

It is our desire to minister to the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of those who are in the hospital, recovering from illness at home, or have lost a loved one.

Emotional needs will be addressed by personal contact through visits, telephone calls, and/or cards. The emphasis will be placed on showing the compassion of Christ through acts of love.

Spiritual needs will be addressed through prayer and sharing of God’s Word with those in need. Those ministering will continue to support those in need through their own personal time of prayer and by requesting prayer through the ‘Knee Mail’ and other forms of corporate prayer at Calvary Houston. Pastoral assistance will be enlisted as needed or specifically requested.

Physical needs will be addressed by supplying groceries, hot meals, and other aid as necessary through the Helps Ministry. Hot meals are provided due to serious illness, hospital stays or the recent birth of a child to a church member.

Boundaries

This ministry is conducted in service to the members of Calvary Houston and their family members. However, the Lord would not deny any who call out to Him in distress or at the end of life. Thus, we will follow the Lord's leading as He divinely provides additional opportunities to serve.

Participants

The Hospital Ministry is coordinated by appointed leadership at Calvary Houston. Each month there is a team of men and women who will be available for ministry to those who are hospitalized. These teams will typically serve each quarter during the year. In case of bereavement or eminent death, we offer GriefShare, a ministry to care for the needs of those grieving from the loss of a loved one. (please see the GriefShare brochure for details). The other team members will support those mourning with cards and letters.

A Call for Servants

On the average, the Hospital Ministry ministers to someone in our church body just about every other day. It requires no special talent except the love of Christ, a willing heart, and availability to serve the hurting. The ministry opportunities can be performed at flexible times and can take the form of personal visits, telephone calls, and/or cards. If you can visit those in the hospital, or you are interested in serving the body in this manner, please contact the church office at 281-648-5800, or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
